Bracelet out of Yogurt Cups

April 17th, 2012 | jewelry/bijutaria, recycle/reciclar | 4 Comments

Check out my guest post on punk projects! I’m really happy that Katie invited me to guest post, it makes me feel so honored. This April is all about recycling on her blog so go visit punk projects for some earth-friendly crafts!

Today I’m going to show you how to use some plastic yogurt cups to make your own bracelets!
For these you’ll need yogurt cups and ribbon/fabric scraps (depending in what you have lying around) and hot glue.

Have in mind that you’ll need something that has a diameter enough to fit in your wrist so if you only have those small ones, good time to taste a new yogurt!! I eat way too much yogurt so for me it wasn’t very difficult to gather them, besides I’m always save some cups for when I need to mix paint or things like that.
Instructions
1. Cut the yogurt cup, I used a x-acto knife and then even out the edges with scissors. It’ll be kinda of weird in the beginning but once you get the hang of it it’d be easier. You’ll have this:

2. Put some hot glue in the fabric/ribbon and place it on the bracelet. Then start to wrap it around your bracelet
3. Put some glue in the ends and it’s finished!

Super easy craft right?
Notes:
Make sure before gluing to the bracelet that your ribbon or fabric has enough length to cover your bracelet.
You can use also yarn! For yarn I only tied the ends, no need for hot glue!

Washer Necklaces

This is one of those things that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. It’s seen everywhere and it’s so simple to make!
These two washers:

Became these necklaces:

Seriously, no need for tutorials. Just sand a washer a little bit and decoupage it (I used a page from a magazine and a napkin). After that you just need a string. It’s so easy and I think I might do more of them with different colors!

Friendship Bracelets

So yesterday I received the last grade I was expecting and I failed! Which means that I’m going to stay in Braga a little longer. It’s a little bit of a bummer because it was the only exam that actually went well and the only one I was expecting to pass. But it’s alright because I’ve over a week to study for it, so I’ll be able to rest and study without feeling overwhelmed. Today I just went to the center of Braga just taking a walk and getting lost (the good kind of lost) and admired lots of tourists that are already on vacation, I’m so jealous but what’s fun is that since I worked last year in a souvenir shop I easily detect which are tourists which are not. I like to imagine why are there visiting and where do they come from.
But I’m not here to talk about…when I saw this link I knew I had to make them. This was my first experiment, not very neat…

Then I made this, I like this one better, it’s so pretty and I’m wearing it on my wrist right now :) Honestly I never thought it’d give that amount of work, I spent an entire afternoon (while watching tv shows and making lots of pauses of course) doing it. For me only the tutorial didn’t make it, I’m not very handy in things like that so I just went to youtube and found some amazing videos, so if you’re having trouble with just the tutorial go find some videos explaining!

I think I’ll spend a good amount of the summer doing this!
