Bracelet out of Yogurt Cups

April 17th, 2012 | jewelry/bijutaria, recycle/reciclar | 4 Comments

Check out my guest post on punk projects! I’m really happy that Katie invited me to guest post, it makes me feel so honored. This April is all about recycling on her blog so go visit punk projects for some earth-friendly crafts!

Today I’m going to show you how to use some plastic yogurt cups to make your own bracelets!
For these you’ll need yogurt cups and ribbon/fabric scraps (depending in what you have lying around) and hot glue.

Have in mind that you’ll need something that has a diameter enough to fit in your wrist so if you only have those small ones, good time to taste a new yogurt!! I eat way too much yogurt so for me it wasn’t very difficult to gather them, besides I’m always save some cups for when I need to mix paint or things like that.
Instructions
1. Cut the yogurt cup, I used a x-acto knife and then even out the edges with scissors. It’ll be kinda of weird in the beginning but once you get the hang of it it’d be easier. You’ll have this:

2. Put some hot glue in the fabric/ribbon and place it on the bracelet. Then start to wrap it around your bracelet
3. Put some glue in the ends and it’s finished!

Super easy craft right?
Notes:
Make sure before gluing to the bracelet that your ribbon or fabric has enough length to cover your bracelet.
You can use also yarn! For yarn I only tied the ends, no need for hot glue!

Happy Easter

April 7th, 2012 | decoupage, recycle/reciclar | 18 Comments

I don’t give Easter a special attention to be honest, Christmas is truly my favorite holiday. But last year I started to have an idea about inspiring people during Easter. Then I saw a tutorial and everything connected. I decided that I’d put quotes inside eggs. How I did these eggs: cutted only a little bit of them, removed what was inside, cleaned it very well, let it completely dry, put small quotes in them and covered the egg with crepe paper. It was super simple but it took so much time, that’s why you’re only hearing about it so late. Last year I didn’t get a chance to hide them. I’m calling this project “Acredita em ti” (Believe in you in portuguese). I’ll be sharing the quotes I put inside the eggs every Wednesday for now on, hope you find them inspiring as well. If you’re reading this because you found my egg, I’m really glad and I hope finding it brighten your day. If you didn’t get any egg, no problem I did get a chance to take lots of photos! Get ready!

This photo makes the rabbit look like a psychopath, when I saw this before editing the images I laughed really hard. I had to make it look more psycho so I put in black and white. I think it gave him more credibility.

Happy Easter for you all!

A new journal for the broke student

September 15th, 2011 | bookbinding/encadernação, recycle/reciclar | 0 Comments

So what happens when I’m a broke college student and you need a new journal? You make one yourself! Actually it was one of summer goals but I wasn’t thinking in doing it since my classes start next Monday. In reality lots of these goals weren’t accomplished, most of them lack of money but I don’t have any problems with that. There are so many other things that I did this Summer and never planned that were equally awesome, so no regrets!
Anyway the reason I’m posting today is to show off my new journal. I love it! I painted the cover (actually thinking about doing a tutorial about it soon) and I can’t wait to start writing. I wanted a new journal because I want to challenge myself to write 30 days in a row. Will you be interested that every week I post how this challenge has been? Please let me know :) I think it’d be good to write it on my blog, it’ll give me more motivation to finish it!

Here’s me with it, the photograph is a little bit out of focus…
